Wedha* holds the sweater of her missing 19-year-old son. Since ISIS overran her village Kocho in Shingal, she never saw her son and her husband again. ISIS killed hundreds of men in Kocho and an estimated of 1,000 women and children are said to be abducted from the village. Wedha, too, have been abducted, and a few months ago she managed to escape together with two of her children. “Life is very hard when we are in the dark about what happened to our loved ones” Wedha says. She could not imagine return to Shingal without her husband. But also she does not want to stay in Dohuk where she gets no support. (*name changed). Dohuk, Iraq, June 30, 2017
